The summer is moving along well at the Lindsay household, we are diligently building our play fort in the yard. Yes, you heard right, we actually have a yard now! Since we are on a well and water is always an issue, any grass up here has to maintain itself. This year we've had lots of rain, but we did put in a low maintenance mountain mix so it won't be like a park but it will be nice as compared to mud.

We put up a dowel fence and gates as well as a rock retaining wall. Since we have so many darn rocks, that was the easiest thing to do. After moving about 35 loads of dirt from the front of the house to terrace the back, we planted grass and a garden. Our next project has been to design and build a play structure for the boys that will fit in our yard and maintain the "mountain character" of our house.

Wow, it will be really nice to finally be able to have the boys contained although they will still have to be careful as we do have bears and the very occasional mountain lion. Check the web site I did and maintain for our homeowners association. We have not had our first visit of the summer yet, but we hear they are out there!
So now, when you come to visit, we can hang out in the yard or on the deck. Yeah!
